Last time I went to Mohawk Bend, they were out of the vegan burger. I was disappointed because I love veggie burgers and I wanted to try it. This time, I got it, but found myself wishing I hadn’t… The flavor wasn’t bad but it was gray and mushy. I found myself really tempted by that pizza in the background! Next time, I’ll stick to vegan pizza or the amazing Flash Gordon salad. Dessert was great though- pics to come!
the south philly slide (veganized) from locali, one of my favorite places to get vegan sandwiches in la!
i’m not usually a big fake meat fan, but this stuff is good. with some onions and peppers and melted daiya on toasty bread, it’s near perfect!
I’m not super into Babycakes, but I can’t NOT be excited about a vegan bakery opening up around the corner from work! Donuts for breakfast every day!
socalfeminist asked: Hi! A personal opinion on bakeries was exactly what I was hoping for :D I've heard a lot about Baby Cakes because of the amount of advertising they have. They're just SO popular so that's why they're the only bakery I really know about. I was hoping for one that offers delivery but if they cakes are worth it then I'll totally consider driving to pick them up. I just want something yummy that everyone will enjoy.
happy birthday (in advance, i’m assuming)!
babycakes is just ok to me. they have some yummy treats, but their cupcakes are the only thing i truly don’t like there- i find them to be heavy and have a weird aftertaste. however, i did eat a mint chocolate chip birthday cake from there once that was insanely good. i actually had to ask a coworker to stage a cake intervention to stop myself from eating to much…
like i said in my original response, kim garr of c’est la v bakeshop makes my favorite vegan cupcakes, and they do deliver for a little extra. i had NO leftovers at my birthday party where i was the only vegan, so they are omnivore-approved too!
scootabaker delivers on a scooter! they have some really unique flavors that i enjoy.
i had mini yummy cupcakes at a friends birthday once and they were great! i tried their regular cupcakes before i was vegan and did not like them, but the vegan ones are delicious!
the sensitive baker makes great chai spiced cupcakes. i haven’t tried a lot of other flavors, but i couldn’t tell they were vegan or gluten-free at all!
i just had to do a presentation skills workshop for the HR department here, and i did it on vegan desserts, so if you need more dessert ideas, check out my doc here.
no cookie left behind!
next weekend, one of my friends is helping to put on a charity bake sale to benefit share our strength, which helps hungry kids.
this isn’t a vegan bake sale, per say, but they would love to have more vegan goods to offer. spork foods is offering a gift certificate in the raffle, so yet another great reason for vegans to get involved!
sadly, i will be away that weekend so i won’t be able to attend, but if you can donate baked goods or go to the bake sale to buy some, please help out this great cause! and, if you needed more reason to go, it’s at scoops, so you can get some of that yummy oreo vanilla vegan ice cream i posted the other day!

i need your help! my birthday is coming up soon, and i’ve love to enjoy a tasty vegan meal with some of my friends to celebrate. however, all of my favorite places are tiny and i need to accomodate about TWELVE people. i’m cool with vegan friendly places too, but i’m looking for the east side or valley area of los angeles.
can you help me pick a restaurant in la for my vegan birthday dinner? i’m having trouble with the ask a question feature on here, so click “ask me anything” to get in touch if you have a suggestion.
